RPE Care Closet

The RPE Care Closet provides clothing and food for students who need extra support. Located on our campus, it gives families a convenient way to access essentials and supplements the LISD Backpack Program with donations from RPE families and local organizations.

Donate Clothing

We welcome new or gently used, clean clothing for our students. Place clothing donations in the donations bin at the back of the school, near the car rider line.

We’ll update this page throughout the year with specific student needs.

Donate Food

Help keep our Care Closet stocked with shelf-stable foods, including:

• Easy meals: Canned ravioli or SpaghettiOs, macaroni and cheese, chicken or beef ramen, and tuna or chicken helper meals.

• Pantry staples: Pasta, pasta sauce, rice, and canned or dried beans.

• Proteins: Canned tuna, chicken, Vienna sausages, and peanut butter.

• Soups and vegetables: Kid-friendly soups, stews, chili, and canned vegetables or potatoes.

• Breakfast foods: Individually boxed cereal, instant oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, Malt-O-Meal, and breakfast bars.

• Fruit and snacks: Fruit cups, applesauce, raisins, granola bars, Goldfish, crackers, pretzels, and microwave popcorn.

• High-protein snacks: Trail mix, nuts, beef jerky, and pumpkin seeds.

• Treats: Shelf-stable pudding and Jell-O cups.

• Other essentials: Jelly in plastic containers.

Please choose non-spicy foods and avoid glass containers. Pop-top cans and individually packaged servings are especially helpful.

Volunteer: September–May

We need one volunteer each week, from 2:00–2:45 p.m. on the last school day of the week, to help distribute food for the weekend.

Students participating in the LISD Backpack Program come to the front office, where the volunteer makes sure each child receives a bag of food to take home.

The LISD Backpack Program provides food for weekends and school breaks. The RPE Care Closet supplements that support through donations from our community.
